Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance Festival is officially moving from Utrecht to Rotterdam in 2024.
The move was revealed in a new episode of the dance music superstar's A State of Trance radio station, which he recorded live from the highest residential building in the city of Benelux.
van Buuren's A State of Trance Festival, which is now a multi-day event, has called Utrecht home for more than a decade. But new plans required more space, considering the fest is going to be expanding its offerings in 2024 as well.
The move to Rotterdam is also due in part to higher demand for tickets to this year's festival, which its organizers said will "become the global epicenter of trance music," per a press release shared with EDM.com. In addition to its typical slate of jaw-dropping DJ sets, the 2023 ASOT Festival will include daytime programming with various activities ranging from masterclasses, demo drops, panels and artist Q&As.

"Utrecht has been an incredible place for the past years," van Buuren said following a performance after the ASOT radio broadcast. "We've all made countless memories there. I myself even went to my first rave in the Jaarbeurs venue back in 1993, and I've also hosted my first 'Armin Only' show there. But unfortunately, they're tearing down the iconic hall that housed our main stage every year, so we've no choice but to look elsewhere."
Earlier this year, van Buuren's venerated Armada label launched the first-ever dance music investment firm, BEAT. The imprint partnered with multi-billion dollar asset manager Pinnacle Financial Partners to manage the groundbreaking fund's transactions. BEAT's primary goal is to invest over $100 million into growing its portfolio in its first two years.
The trance icon is now poised for the first-ever ASOT Festival in London. Scheduled for July 2nd in celebration of the brand's 20th anniversary, the fest is poised to be the largest trance event to take place in the city's history." Organizers are expecting an audience of 20,000 at the Dockyards, an open-air, waterside venue.
