Kill The Noise Recounts Story of Being Stung by Venomous Stingray

Kill The Noise's latest collaboration isn't quite what he had in mind.

The renowned electronic music producer today took to social media to tell the story of a recent encounter with a stingray, which punctured his skin with its venomous tail spine. After he accidentally stepped on the animal, Kill The Noise says it whipped its tail, piercing his foot and violently flailing about while the barb was still inside.

The ray must've listened to Kill The Noise's recent single, "Ultraviolent." He says the sting was more painful than that of scorpions, wasps and spiders.

Victims of stingray envenomations feel the onset of "severe" pain immediately, according to the National Library of Medicine. It then typically reaches maximum intensity within 30 to 90 minutes and can last for up to 48 hours.

Despite the pain of the venom, Kill The Noise was in good spirits following the incident, the aftereffects of which he likened to the rejuvenation we experience after an ice bath.

"Easiest explanation is endorphins from not being in excruciating pain, it’s like an extreme version of the ice bath, I think half of what makes an ice bath feel good is the mind phasing out the pain and discomfort and then, the catharsis when you get out," he added.
