In the midst of a breakout year, Mason Talbot has poured gasoline on the hype with a stunning new single, "Lookin' For."
It's easy to hear why renowned house music producers like MK, Hannah Wants and Lee Foss have been supporting the young beatsmith. "Lookin' For" is minimal in nature, but resounding in its arrangement and sound design. It's soulful house music at its finest, bursting at its seams with radiant U.K. influences and visceral sound design.
It's easy to get hypnotized by the track's bluesy vocals at first listen, but its real pièce de résistance is its bassline. Talbot produces a thick low end here, one that you can feel in your bones as it runs roughshod through thumping drums. It all points to yet another scintillating release from Talbot as he continues to make noise from his hometown of Leeds.
"Lookin' For" arrives by way of House Hats Records, an imprint out of Florida quickly making a name for itself as a tastemaker in the red-hot stateside house music scene. Take a listen to below.

Talbot says he's been playing out "Lookin' For" for six months in his DJ sets after designing it to wreak havoc on dancefloors. And now that it's officially hit streaming platforms, that seems but a foregone conclusion.
"This song came together very naturally," Talbot tells us. "I have taken massive inspiration from speed garage and I’ve tried to merge that sound with my usual techy sound to bring a fresh club ready banger made for the dancefloor. I want people to feel joy and energy when listening to this track—that’s what inspired me to make it."
